Roof cleaning is the controlled removal of moss, lichen, algae and atmospheric staining from concrete, clay, slate and composite tiles. Our method combines low-pressure washing and steam cleaning, hand-scraping of moss and a biocidal treatment applied as standard. It is not harsh high-pressure jet-washing. Done correctly it restores the original tile colour, lifts established moss and adds years to the surface life.
Any homeowner whose roof shows green, black or orange streaking, visible moss clumps along the ridges or in valleys, or moss debris falling into gutters and onto driveways. Particularly important for properties under tree cover, north-facing pitches, and any home older than 8 years that has never been treated.
Late spring through early autumn is ideal — dry tiles take the biocide better and the kill-off cycle finishes before winter rain. However we work year-round, 7 days a week including weekends, in suitable weather. Often booked in within the same week — and next-day when availability allows.
Harsh high-pressure jet-washing strips the protective surface layer of concrete tiles, breaks granule bonds on composite tiles and can drive water under laps causing internal leaks. Our combination of low-pressure washing, steam, hand-scraping and biocidal treatment cleans tiles properly without that damage.

Moss is the visible green pad — physical hand-scraping needed. Lichen is the orange/yellow crust — bonds to tile chemistry, needs biocide dwell-time of 20+ minutes. Algae (gloeocapsa magma) is the black streak on north slopes — purely a biocide job, no scraping required. We identify the dominant contamination on inspection.
Roof ladders, edge protection and bagged-debris protocols mean nothing falls and no neighbours are inconvenienced. Fully insured with £5m public liability cover. Tower scaffolding set-up where access requires it — factored into the quote.
