Service Overview

Understanding pressure washing

What it is

High-pressure water cleaning of hard exterior surfaces using rotary cleaners that deliver an even, stripe-free finish across block paving, slabs, tarmac, concrete, stone and brick. Heat-injection available for oil, grease and chewing gum.

Who it's for

Homeowners with stained, mossy or weed-infested hard surfaces; landlords prepping for tenancy change; commercial property managers needing clean forecourts and car parks.

When you need it

Spring to early autumn for best drying conditions. Hot-water cleans work year-round including frost periods. Best done before any re-sanding, sealing or refinishing.

Why professional help matters

Hand-held pressure washers leave 'tiger stripes' — overlap marks that take a year of weathering to disappear. Rotary surface cleaners use two synchronised jets in a closed housing, delivering a perfectly even finish.

If left untreated

The cost of doing nothing.

  • Weed root left in joints breaks through within 3 months — every season the problem doubles.
  • Algae biofilm on slabs is the #1 cause of slip-and-fall claims at homes and businesses.
  • Oil-stained driveways knock 2–5% off kerb-appeal valuations.
  • Ground-in moss holds moisture against block paving and accelerates freeze-thaw cracking.
Common mistakes

What we see go wrong.

  • Hiring the cheapest quote with a hand-wand — every overlap shows for a year.
  • Skipping the joint re-sand — kiln-dried sand stabilises blocks and prevents weed regrowth.
  • Pressure-washing tarmac at full power and stripping the binder.
  • DIY-ing it — most domestic units take 6 hours to do what we do in 90 minutes.
Our Process

A predictable system, from first call to clean-up

  1. 01

    Inspection

Surface assessment — paving type, joint condition, contamination level, drainage.

  2. 02

    Pre-Treatment

Biocide or degreaser applied where needed, 10-minute dwell to lift biofilm or oil.

  3. 03

    Rotary Clean

Industrial rotary surface cleaner walked methodically across the surface for an even finish.

  4. 04

    Detail Pass

Hand-wand used for edges, kerbs, steps and corners no rotary can reach.

  5. 05

    Re-Sand & Seal (optional)

Kiln-dried sand swept into block paving joints; sealant applied if booked.

The Benefits

What you actually get for the money.

  • Even finish, no stripes

Rotary tech gives a uniform clean a hand-wand simply cannot.

  • Restores grip and safety

Removes the algae biofilm that causes most outdoor slips.

  • Adds visual years to paving

Customers consistently mistake cleaned drives for re-laid ones.

  • Optional sealing extends results

Joint stabiliser sealant helps protect the finish and slow weed regrowth.

  • Hot water for tough jobs

Oil, grease, chewing gum and grease all lifted thermally.

  • Fully insured — £5m cover

Public liability cover up to £5 million. Slurry runoff managed and disposed of responsibly.

Deep Detail

The technical bit — for the people who like to know

Equipment we run

Honda-powered cold and hot-water units, Karcher and Whirlaway rotary surface cleaners in 16" and 20" formats, 21°/40° fan nozzles for detail. Surface-cleaner housings contain spray and slurry — no over-spray onto cars or windows.

Block paving specifics

Marshalls, Brett, Tobermore and Bradstone blocks all respond well. We use the right pressure to clean without dishing the surface. Joint sand re-applied after cleaning is essential — without it, blocks loosen and weeds return.

Patios and slabs

Indian sandstone, porcelain, riven concrete and limestone each take a different setting. Sandstone needs lower pressure to avoid pitting; porcelain handles full power but joints need detail-wand work.

Tarmac and concrete

Tarmac washed at lower pressure with surface cleaner to avoid stripping bitumen binder. Concrete handles full pressure and rotary tools.

Residential vs commercial

Residential drives, patios and paths quoted by m². Commercial forecourts, car parks and loading bays priced by area + access. Out-of-hours scheduling for retail and office sites.
